Additions & Renovations

Below are just a few examples of some of the renovations & additions we have completed in the past. Please take some time to review our work.

Addition to a historic 1800's home in Westport, CT. This project included the addition of  2 car garage with a small wood shop at the rear and in-law apartment above, a large entryway to connect the new structure with the original house, and many custom details along the way.

Complete renovation of this waterfront property on Long Island Sound included many unique challenges from a construction perspective. Building on the shore requires an extensive knowledge of proper building practices, FEMA regulations, zoning & building codes, as well as the appropriate materials to be used in order for the strcuture to stand up to the extreme environment. This property resides in the flood plain and is elevated on steel piers, however the original construction was poorly completed and much of the structure reflected the effects, including rot & water infiltration in most areas. The entire building was reworked including roof details, wall framing and sheathing. All the window openings were reworked and Marvin windows & doors were installed and finished with custom trim details inside & out that we manufactured. Custom triple hung windows were installed looking out toward the water from the family room on the first floor. To protect these windows motorized storm shutters and screens were installed yet hidden in the structural soffit above so as not to be noticed except when in use. The entire exterior of the house recieved new trim details & siding backed with a drainage matrix to endure the harsh waterfront environment. Many decks & balconies were constructed from Ipe decking and custom stainless steel cable rails were used on the beach side. The original front facade, entry, and accompanying stairwell were completely changed to include more pleasing asthetics & an elevator. All the cabinetry was custom manufactured in our shop along with many other details through out the house. The interior of  the entire first floor was finished, walls & ceilings, with custom milled, random width, poplar shiplap to create the feeling of a beach cottage yet with contemporary design elements. There are far to many details to list here but many are displayed in the pictures above. This project allowed us many opportunities to display our custom craftsmanship and it was truly a pleasure to work not only on the house itself but alongside the homeowner who had an incredible vision of the end product.
